Second Pregnancies
I was just wondering, to those of you who have had or are having baby number two, three, four, etc. How have these pregnancies compared to your first one?  My first (and only) pregnancy was very easy and enjoyable. I hardly had any sickness (only nauseausness) and didn't get really uncomfortable until the last couple of weeks. I had some back pain and some sciatic nerve pain, but nothing bad at all. I actually loved being pregnant!!

That being said, I have been reading up a little bit on second pregnancies and have found a few things saying that they were much worse than the first. Many women had a great first pregnancy and a horrible second or third one. I am concerned because my husband and I are planning on TTC in the next few months, hoping to get a summer baby. I am going to be in my last year of college, which will include student teaching my last semester. I am getting nervous after reading all this stuff, thinking it might be too much to take on. I had always thought my next pregnancies would be fairly easy, since my first was, but now I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts and experiences are welcomed.

There really was no difference in my first and second pregnancies.
Stop reading books. :)

Both my pregnancies were very easy. My first, I had morning sickness for 12-13 weeks, but it was never that bad . . . I threw up a couple times a day but kept living my life like normal (unless I puked on myself on my way to work . . . then I went home, lol). My second pregnancy, I didn't even have morning sickness . . . I had a couple times of spotting that freaked me out, but again, kept living life like normal.

I've never heard that second pregnancies were worse than first ones, but then again, I liked being pregnant, too.

Both of my pregnancies have been easy. The only "negative" difference between the 1st and the 2nd was during the 1st I had morning sickness but only threw up twice, whereas with the 2nd I had morning sickness again and I actually threw up quite a few times. I also had more fatigue because having the 1st as a toddler doesn't allow for as much nap/down time as when you're pregnant with your first.

I am currently ~26w with my second. I had virtually no morning sickness this time around, compared to throwing up multiple times a day with Alistair. I definitely started showing sooner, and all the aches and pains have started sooner (some days I feel like I am 100 years old!), but generally I've been feeling pretty good. The biggest difference for me is that with Alistair, I had a lot more time to rest (I used to get home from work and often take a half hour nap before I started on dinner for instance), but with a toddler to chase around there is never time for a break!

Thanks everyone! You have made me feel quite a bit better about trying at that time for a little one. I'm just so nervous this time around...I guess because I know more of what to expect now. It's scary sometimes! lol.

I am 30w into my 2nd preg. So far the only things that stick out as being 'worse' are that I had morning sickness until about 14w (didn't have it at all with the first) and that the braxton hicks are currently kicking my rear. I mean they HURT sometimes. Also, i'm getting very big a lot sooner this time around so it is hard for me at work. I'm loving it though - nothing has been unbearable! ;)
